Whale music : An acutely sensitive, moving portrayal of the lives of a group of women which reflects the attitudes and feelings of women today, depicted in a series of settings which flow gently into each other. Caroline, pregnant by one of her boyfriends, escapes to her seaside birthplace where she is visited by friends. The reaction of these women to each other whilst awaiting the birth is sympathetically told and we become totally involved in the heights and depths of their collective emotions and thought. A little like drowning : The plays theme is the effect of the past on the present, requiring scenes from different times played out simultaneously on a split level stage; it was impressively done. Many characters had to project the conflict between their mixed Italian and English cultural background, and their Catholicism. Two planks and a passion : Set in York in 1392, this play tells of a performance of the Mystery Plays. For the townspeople the competition is fierce to attract the attention of the Royal Party and to impress them at all costs. But the message of Mystery cycle as performed is strong, clear and truthful. Made in Bangkok : The play explores British imperialism and the exploitation of indigenous culture focussing on five English tourists in Bangkok.
