Blumhouse Productions is an American production company founded in 2000. The now cult ""Paranormal Activity"" is its first great international success and is at the origin of a whole craze for the paranormal and found footage. For a budget of $15,000, the movie makes $194 million! Jason Blum, its founder, was able to impose a solid production model based on the equation ""low budget, high concept"". The producer is also keen to defend values sometimes associated with European cinema: support for authors; artistic freedom; ""final cut""; political and social commitment... From ""Paranormal Activity"" to ""Get Out"" via ""Insidious"", ""Sinister"", ""The Purge"", ""Split"", ""Happy Death Day"" and more modest productions such as ""Creep"" or ""The Gallows"", Blumhouse Productions is a string of critical and financial successes. This book reviews the creation of the company and its appearance on the international market and analyses its production strategy based on concrete examples and figures (box office, budgets, revenues...). The author also discusses the different themes that run through Blumhouse films. Illustrations enrich the text (posters, film images, marketing...).
